This is freaky. It’s a map of Victoria which shows the relative hazards related to natural disasters. Is your house built on rock, or just where there used to be a bog? If the earthquakes hits just wrong, is it possible that the ground may turn to mud and your house slip around? You may have to zoom in a lot and count over streets to find out. Feels strange to look at this and realize that our family’s likely level of danger or, conversely, “luck” in a major disaster may have been determined when we bought our house. Geography=Fate?
I guess that concept is demonstrated already in that living on this coast, you know you have a chance of earthquakes; living in the Midwest/Southwest USA means a risk of tornadoes; living on the east coast means a risk of hurricanes. But a hazard map this precise is somewhat unnerving.
